Chef/ Kitchen Manager
Reports to: President and CEO
What This Job Entails:
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Assist in menu development and daily specials
- Financial responsibilities include: food cost controls, managing all departmental operation expenses, managing food waste (including staff dining, payroll controls- including), scheduling to business levels, productivity is maximized and recruitment procedures are effective.
- Oversee the operation of all restaurant operations including: Taproom & Eatery, Private Parties, Special Events, Group Bookings, and Caterings (on and off-site).
- Provide insight into food revenue opportunities.
- Maintain par stock levels of food items, based on demand and business levels – maintain relationship with food stores that build communication on food rotation to minimize loss.
- Ordering supplies, inventory control and cost management
- Ensure all kitchens and eating areas are organized and maintain a high level of cleanliness
- Responsible for food quality and presentation
- Adhere to all government guidelines for proper and safe food and beverage service (Serve Safe; Smart Serve; Food Handling Training Protocol - Ministry of Health)
- Ensure all aspects of safe food handling and health board requirements are in place and practiced.
- Work closely with Front-of-House to ensure extraordinary customer service.
- Develop a work environment in the back-of-house that promotes staff retention.
- Ensure that targets are met and annual departmental goals are successfully achieved.
- Maintain effective and timely performance management practices, including – training, performance reviews, goal-setting, recognition, etc.
- Commit to company-driven initiatives and committees by representing or appointing representatives from Kitchen and back-of-house to participate.
- Establish work environment that focuses on health and safety; prevention of injuries is a key focus.
- Enjoys working with and assisting new culinarians become professionals in the field.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2-years previous experience as a cook/ sous chef.
- Valid trade certifications must be demonstrated.
- Able to work in a fast paced environment with interruptions and a variety of demands.
- Able to manage constant change and challenging situations.
- Must be detail oriented, highly organized, creative, innovative and numerically inclined.
- Aware of wellness and safety practices that protect self and co-workers.
- Safe Food Handler Certified
- Smart Service Certified
- Able to work independently
- Able to work under pressure, to prioritize tasks and to meet deadlines
- Strong communications skills, team player attitude, and task-oriented.

TAPROOM & EATERY MANAGER
Reports to: President and CEO
The Taproom & Eatery Manager is a full time position which you will co-manage with another full time Taproom & Eatery Manager. You are a key member of the associate team at Lake of the Woods Brewing Company and as such the ideal candidate is eager to grow with the company, making an investment both personally and professionally. The Taproom & Eatery Manager will work at Lake of the Woods Brewing Company and will be responsible for duties including but not limited to:
- Supervising Tap room & Eatery staff
- Strategic Tap room & Eatery planning and organization- including inventory, sales and budgeting plans
- Conduct free pour
- Completing weekly and monthly inventory tasks for production team
- Full recruitment cycle for Taproom & Eatery staff; accepting resumes, interviewing candidates, hiring and training staff
- Constructing a weekly schedule for Taproom & Eatery staff
- Taking reservations and booking entertainment for taproom
- Planning and executing a variety of events specifically for the Taproom & Eatery
- Engaging customers, making sales, and answering questions
- Other duties as assigned
Taproom & Eatery Manager Skills and Qualifications:
- 2+ years of previous management experience
- Full time, flexible schedule, with evening and weekend hours required.
- Smart Serve Certified
- First Aid Certified
- Familiar with a POS system
- Retail background required- both back and front of house experience
- Previous bar tending, bar set up and free pour experience
- Ability to interact professionally and effectively with employees and the general public.
- Experience in a fast-paced work environment and the ability to multi task. The ability to think on your feet and adapt, flexibility is key.
- Strict attention to detail.
- Advanced computer literacy- excel, word, outlook, square, etc.
- Events planning and coordination experience
- Presentation skills
- Time management and schedule management
