Helping businesses grow has always been at the heart of what we do. As a non profit organization, our role is to meet entrepreneurs where they are and support them as they move from idea to growth and expansion. In the year ahead, we are continuing proven programs while introducing new ones that reflect where businesses are headed next.
For those just starting out, Trailblazer remains the entry point. This short, hands on program helps early stage founders test their ideas, understand their market, and build a business model that makes sense. Through weekly sessions, customer discovery, peer learning, and mentorship, entrepreneurs gain clarity before committing time and money. Participants who complete the program and are building innovative products or manufacturing in Northwestern Ontario can then apply to Next Level funding of up to $5,000, creating a clear path from early validation to growth.
As businesses gain traction, the Next Level Program supports the step into scaling. Whether it is purchasing new equipment, expanding into new markets, or completing training and certification, this
program helps businesses move forward with confidence. With up to $5,000 available at a 50 percent cost share, it is designed to support smart and timely growth decisions.
For companies ready to invest in technology, the Northern Technology Accelerator Program or NTAP continues to play a key role. NTAP supports Northern Ontario SMEs that want to implement innovative technology to improve efficiency, increase sales, and reach new markets. The program offers $10,000 in funding at a 50 percent cost share and helps businesses make well planned technology investments that deliver long term impact.
Looking ahead, we are introducing the Building Blueprints for AI Adoption Program to help businesses take practical steps into artificial intelligence. Through expert led workshops, one on one mentorship, and a customized AI Adoption Blueprint, participants learn how to use AI to boost productivity, streamline operations, and strengthen competitiveness. Eligible projects may also receive up to $20,000 in funding at a 50 percent cost share, helping businesses move from interest to implementation.
When growth depends on visibility and connections, the Get There Program helps businesses make the most of trade shows and conferences. Funding support is paired with a strong emphasis on purposeful meetings with customers and partners, ensuring time on the road leads to real opportunities. Businesses can receive up to $2,500 for a booth or $1,500 to
attend, both at a 50 percent cost share.
Sector focused innovation remains a priority through the Boreal Springboard. This initiative supports startups and seed stage businesses bringing new products, processes, and technologies into the forest sector. The Accelerator, launching its first cohort on March 23, 2026, offers $20,000 milestone-based investment, access to mentors and technical expertise, collaborative workspace, and direct connections to industry stakeholders.
As part of Boreal Springboard, the Soft-Landing Program supports growing companies looking to expand into Northern Ontario’s forestry ecosystem. Businesses are connected to the region’s mature forestry cluster, provided office and meeting space, and supported through research and development partnerships with Lakehead University and Confederation College. With access to advisors, industry leaders, investors, and first customers, companies can scale into the region with stronger footing and fewer unknowns.
In agriculture and food, the Sustainable New Agri Food Products and Productivity or SNAPP Program supports businesses and collaborations working to improve productivity, strengthen value chains, and develop new products. With up to $10,000 available at a 50 percent cost share, and up to $25,000 for collaborative projects, the program helps agri-food businesses address the unique realities of operating in Northern Ontario.
Together, these programs create a connected pathway of support. Whether a business is validating an idea, adopting new technology, or expanding into new markets, we are here to make growth feel achievable, supported, and sustainable.
