Why Your business should Innovate

Why your business should Innovate:

  1. Innovation means growth and sometimes survival. Studies indicate that “ innovative firms grow twice as fast, both in employment and sales, as firms that fail to innovate. This reflects earlier investment by fast-growing firms in innovative resources and in development of innovation-related capabilities.”[1]
  2. The best businesses are built on talent. Attracting and retaining the best talent is critical to business success.  Talented people want to work in dynamic environments where new things are happening.  Thinking like a start-up means challenging the status quo and looking for new opportunities.  Bring excitement into your workplace through innovation.
  3. You are probably not leveraging the innovation happening right now.  What more could you do if you focused and created a culture that embraced innovation?  Your business can choose to focus on small new processes or look for big blue sky radical change depending your on comfort level and capacity.  Wherever you start on the spectrum you will find opportunity.  And one opportunity leads to another.  The challenge is to get started.
  4. It is easier than you think.  There are proven tools, techniques, and examples that can guide your business as it embraces innovation.  The Innovation Centre has made supporting innovation within small and medium-sized businesses in our region a strategic priority.  From an economic development perspective it makes great sense.  Innovative companies grow and create jobs and wealth in our communities.  We can leverage our experience in creating successful start-ups and assist existing companies with innovation and seizing new opportunities.  Just like our start-ups do. Our Innovocorps Conference on March 2, 2017 has inspirational speakers, hands-on sessions for tools and techniques and opportunity to network with like-minded professionals who are embracing innovation.  www.innovocorps.ca.  It is a great way to get started.
