Job Posting- Regional Innovation Advisor

The Regional Innovation Advisor will work as part of the Northwestern Ontario Innovation Centre Team. This person will work in the Kenora & Rainy River Districts to provide in-person support to innovators, deliver Innovation Centre programming, and help create more awareness around entrepreneurship and innovation throughout the region.

The successful candidate will focus on engaging new clients, completing product and market research, developing community partnerships, furthering youth entrepreneurship initiatives, and assisting in the development and delivery of innovative projects in Northwestern Ontario.

The position will require travel throughout Northwestern Ontario, specifically in the Kenora & Rainy River Districts.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate would be flexible, resourceful, a self-starter, and have an entrepreneurial mindset.
Understanding of economic development, business strategies, and government programs.
Strong project management, organizational, communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills; the ability to multi-task several projects, and the ability to develop and deliver business workshops in a group setting.
Sound judgment and ability in handling matters of a confidential, sensitive or political nature.
Demonstrated ability to deal positively with clients and community partners.
Ability to utilize technology effectively (e.g. Microsoft Office, video-conferencing platforms, social media etc.)

REQUIREMENTS

A degree or diploma in Business or a related field with equivalent work experience.
2 - 3 years experience in the areas of business or economic development.
Ability to work outside regular business hours as required.
Valid Ontario Class “G” driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
Ability to travel regularly within Northwestern Ontario

 

Job Type: Full-time, 3-yr Contract
Location: Northwest Business Centre in Kenora, Ontario
