CareerConnect – Connecting Canadian Youth with High Demand ICT Jobs in High-Demand Fields Program - provides funding for Canadian employers to offer ICT career-related work experiences for post-secondary graduates. This program is funded in part by the Government of Canada’s Youth Employment Strategy which helps young people gain the skills and work experience needed to make a successful transition into the labour market.
CareerConnect is designed to:
- help graduates get meaningful work experience in information and communications technology (ICT) jobs,
- encourage employers to hire Canada’s youth.
Key elements of the program:
- Participating employers should be from the private sector in a high demand field
- The youth must be post-secondary graduates’ ages 15 – 30 who fit the eligibility criteria for the program.
- Employers are required to sign a contract with ICTC stating that a permanent full-time employment opportunity may exist within the company for the youth, upon successful completion of the program.
- Participating employers will develop a learning plan that will guide the youth’s development. This is critical to improve youth retention within the company and for the ICT labour market overall.
