How Canada's Defence Contracts can impact you
FedNor Thunder Bay invites you to hear how Canada's Industrial and Regional Benefits (IRB) Policy can help Northern Ontario businesses connect with major international defence contractors, and to hear from those Prime Contractors themselves.
Canada's IRB policy requires prime contractors (the company that wins a defence contract) to place work in Canada equivalent to 100 percent of the contract value measured in Canadian content. IRB is mandatory for certain government procurements over $100 million and discretionary for procurement in the $2-100 million range.
To assist Northern Ontario companies in exploring the opportunities arising from the IRB Policy, FedNor is coordinating an exciting event that will bring prime defence contractors together with Northern Ontario companies to network and explore supplier opportunities through the Industrial Regional Benefits (IRB) policy. This all-day free event will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at the Valhalla Inn, and pre-registration is required (see below). Event sign-in will start at 8:00 a.m. Presentations will start at 8:30 a.m. on IRB, controlled goods registration, and the prime contractors. Lunch will be provided followed by meetings with the prime contractors in the afternoon.
FedNor invites you to attend this special opportunity to meet with the following prime contractors:
Dew Engineering http://www.dewengineering.com/indexflash.html
Nexter Systems http://www.nexter-group.fr/
General Dynamics Land Systems http://www.gdcanada.com/
BAE Systems http://www.baesystems.com/
Lockheed Martin http://www.lockheedmartin.com/canada/
Learn what the contractors are looking for and the criteria to be part of a defence procurement supply chain. Take this opportunity to make the right connections. Completing the attached profile template can assist Prime Contractors in getting to know you, as it is what will most influence face-to-face meetings with the prime contractors. FedNor will be supplying each prime contractor with all profiles received. When attending the event, please feel free to bring promotional material and don't forget to bring your business cards.
