What is Facility Management? Learn about an emerging profession that is responsible for a multitude of activities encompassing people, place, process, technology, all dealing with the ‘building’. Facility Managers possess diverse backgrounds and skill sets and hold positions that range from housekeeping to managing a large portfolio of both commercial and residential buildings. This workshop will outline the pivotal role of a Facility Manager. It will illustrate the possibilities the professional can offer and provide a future outlook on the marketplace

This workshop has been designed to provide an overview of Accessible Ontario Disability Act (AODA) and an introduction to the Building Accessibility Excellence Program (BAE). The BAE program has been developed to address the need for accessibility standardization in the industry. Inspired by successes and lessons learned from public, private, and non-profit sectors, the Program is designed to align the Built Environment Standards, simplify the auditing, reporting and identification of accessibility barriers, and ensure qualified individuals are implementing the standards.
Participants: This workshop is designed for those interesting in learning more about AODA and how to learning how to accommodate for your customer needs.
Facilitator: Marcia O’Connor is owner/manager of AM FM Consulting Group Inc., a management consulting company specializing in innovative and sustainable solutions in asset and facility management through the integration of consulting, education, and technical services. Marcia is a seasoned professional working with organizations involving education, knowledge transfer, and change/transition management strategies. Her areas of specialty include facilities space planning, real estate management, strategic planning, implementation planning, and coordination of facility evaluations and building reviews. Marcia is a lifetime learner and thrives on helping individuals organizations leverage their skills and knowledge to advance corporate direction. Marcia has worked directly with a vast number of corporations, from analyzing existing governance structures, advising companies on internal controls, developing procedures and policies, drafting board committee charters, codes of conduct, and established internal compliance and training programs.
